Year 5 have begun to use editing stations to improve their Shackleton diary entries. Children have worked in small groups to support and give peer feedback. Well done Year 5 – amazing collaboration!  

Discussing sentence structures and the affect on readers.

Our English topic this half term enable us to study ‘dual narratives’. After interrogating the text in detail we colour coded each paragraph to show happiness and danger. We then cut up the paragraphs and investigated how the different sentence structures affect us as a reader.

Year 5 have been solving puzzles using shapes which represent numbers. All children have worked really hard and persevered to solve the puzzle. Year 5 then had to write how they solved it – explaining each step! 

Magazine photo frames

Year 5 are furiously making magazine photo frames to display the photo’s that they took within the school. On Friday children were given the task to take photo’s around the school which told a story. All children have worked really hard and their efforts, once finished, will look amazing!

This week we have been discussing the power of our words and what makes a good friend. All children have designed their own posters and signed the class pledge to not be a bystander.

The students of Year 5 swapped places today and became the teachers! Takara and Charley were amazing at thoroughly explaining short multiplication to the rest of the class!

Year 5 are using ‘The Mysteries of Harris Burdick’ to inspire their writing this half term. The children have shown amazing collaboration and perseverance to write their opening paragraphs. All children have managed to create mystery and suspense! Well done Year 5 – amazing effort!
